Every painting is evidence of an act of translation. This point is particularly apt in the case of “Hints and Ellipses”. The source images which comprise the base material were gathered during a family trip in Italy. I photographed architectural spaces with the intention of investigation and exploration . The work in “Hints and Ellipses” is the result of translating those images into paintings and glass castings which imply the original but sidestep reproduction.
