Botanicals… and a few gallery paintings
Plant forms offer many phenomena to explore: the effects of breeze on grass, light and shadow on a tangle of dark leaves and the stork-like elegance of a potted orchid. Plants offer all the basic shapes in endless variety. But shapes themselves have no presence. And that’s the trick. To look at reference and then not, building a world in which color, shape and texture come together to create a vital world of pattern, rhythm and reason. A microcosm writ large with all the ingredients for life.
